Aguirre

The wild and crazy world of Mexican Baroque Music as collected by Sebastian de Aguirre around the 1650s and what we made of it
This is our attempt to recreate music from a very rudimentary musical source from Mexico. Nothing to go by except a few chords and little melodic bits, and the description of a musical instrument which resembles mostly a cittern.
So we had such an instrument reconstructed, a Mexican cittern, with a slightly different setup and tuning than its European counterpart.
The sound of that hellish banjo quite dominates this CD and is embedded in our usual guitar and gamba klang, and completed by Pedro Estevans unbelievable perscussions.
